Why didn’t I like Modern Times like everyone else? I’m amazed at the kind of praise that has been heaped on it. There are only two songs that stand up for me, that I keep going back to and puzzle over – Workingman’s Blues and Ain’t Talkin’. The rest seem to me stiff, cold, unfinished, empty….
